Excerpt: “It is therefore likely that Lower Canada will eventually become an entirely French people. But it will never have a large population. Everything around it is becoming English. It will be a drop in the ocean. I greatly fear, as Mr. Neilson said with his abrupt frankness, that North America will be English; fortune has decided that.”
