Traces of the past:  Qualities of Indigenous people

Note: Father François Du Perron was a French priest. Although the Europeans generally spoke of Native people in unflattering terms, this was not the case with Father Du Perron. He saw many fine qualities in Native people, as this excerpt shows.

Excerpt:

“They all have greater intellect in their business, speech, kind deeds, encounters, flexibility and subtlety than the most well-heeled bourgeois and merchants of France.”
