Be Open to Diversity … during the same time period!
Competency 3: To be open to the diversity of societies and their territories
This usually means that you are able to see differences in two separate societies “that existed at the time period”.
Obviously these societies don’t usually exist in the same place. Sometimes they are so far away from each other (like Iroquois and Inca) that they hardly know about each other. Sometimes (like the Iroquoians and the Algonquians) the two different societies actually contact each other and might even trade (or fight!).
