Competency 3:  To be open to the diversity of societies and their territories

This competency usually involves exploring differences in two separate societies that existed during the time period.

These societies don’t always exist in the same place.  Sometimes they lived so far away from each other (like Iroquois and Inca) that they rarely interacted with each other.  In other cases, the two societies lived relatively close together (like the Iroquoians and the Algonquians). In this case, they may have traded or even fought with one another!
